SINGAPORE – A young woman was at work in Bandung, Indonesia, when her nose ring got stuck in the mesh backing of an office chair.

A TikTok video of the incident, which Indonesian news outlet Detik.com reported took place on Jan 10, shows the woman’s colleagues attempting to help dislodge her nose ring from the chair, but to no avail.

The fire department was called in and the woman – along with the office chair – was taken by van to a nearby fire station. But the woman’s embarrassment did not end there.

In the video, firefighters can be seen teasing the woman by pretending to consider using heavy tools like a chainsaw and a large axe for the rescue.

She was eventually freed with a humble pair of pliers.

The process took five minutes, said one of the firefighters, Mr Mochamad Alam Priabadi, as quoted by Detik.com.

The firefighters’ levity during the situation, said Mr Alam, was meant to make the woman feel less tense.

He stressed that the rescue was legitimate and not staged for content, and that the woman’s friends were the ones who filmed the incident.

But the rescuers were more than happy to take a photo with the thankful young lady, after singing her a song and giving her a round of applause.
