1.58 million pass through Hong Kong in early holiday travel

The Hong Kong government earlier said that it expected 4.61 million travellers to pass through the city during the holiday period.

HONG KONG – Around 1.58 million travelers passed through Hong Kong’s sea, land and air control points during the first two days of the Labor Day holiday in the Chinese mainland, according to the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.

Immigration data showed that 775,085 travelers–361,374 arrivals and 413,711 departures–passed through the city’s immigration control points on April 29, the first day of the five-day holiday.

Lo Wu was the busiest control point, handling 174,729 travelers on Saturday and 183,537 passengers yesterday

On April 30, arrivals increased to 406,614 while departures decreased to 395,919.

The Lok Ma Chau Spur Line and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Control Point also saw heavy passenger traffic, handling a total of 303,542 and 162,794 passengers, respectively, during Saturday and Sunday.
