BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Three hundred families received the keys to their new homes under the National Housing Scheme from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, at a ceremony held at the BRIDEX Conference Hall in Jerudong on Monday.
The presentation ceremony reflected the Government’s continued efforts to provide affordable and quality housing for Bruneian citizens.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was received by Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid; Coordinating Minister for Social and Manpower Affairs and Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman; and Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer Pengiran Md Ameer Mubaarak bin Pengiran Haji Hashim.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Syariah Subordinate Court Judge for the Brunei-Muara District Pengiran Haji Shahril Azman bin Pengiran Haji Metusin, followed by a welcoming speech by the Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer.
His Majesty then presented house keys to 300 recipients, all of whom were allocated terrace houses at the Kampong Lugu National Housing Scheme.
A Doa Selamat was recited by the Syariah Subordinate Court Judge for Brunei-Muara District to seek blessings for the ceremony.
Shortly after officiating the presentation ceremony, His Majesty proceeded to visit Jerudong Primary School, Cluster 4, in Kampong Jerudong.
Jerudong Primary School was established in 1955 with an initial enrolment of 25 pupils. A permanent school building was constructed in 1957. The school currently has 406 pupils, supported by 60 teachers and 11 staff members.
His Majesty then visited EVYD Technology Sdn Bhd in Kampong Jerudong. The company utilises innovative technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance healthcare quality and systems. Established on April 27, 2020, the company employs 65 staff, of whom 53 are locals.
Following the visit, His Majesty proceeded to the homes of two recipients of terrace houses under the Kampong Lugu National Housing Scheme.
First His Majesty visited the house of Awang Roshirmy bin Haji Abu Bakar, at No. 16, Simpang 134, Jalan Ambin, Kampong Lugu National Housing Scheme and then later to the house of Dayang Siti Salmiah binti Haji Awang Bini @ Sharbini, at No. 13, Simpang 134, Jalan Ambin, Kampong Lugu National Housing Scheme.
His Majesty then visited the residence of the Village Head of Kampong Lugu and Kampong Katimahar, Awang Abdul Hadi bin Haji Abdul Sani.
To conclude the day’s programme, His Majesty proceeded to the Royal Berkshire Hall at Tarindak D’ Polo, Jerudong, for a luncheon.
Through the Housing Development Department, His Majesty’s Government continues to implement various initiatives and efforts to ensure that citizens have access to proper housing, in line with the Second Goal of Wawasan Brunei 2035, which aspires to achieve a high quality of life.
