Indonesia’s Prabowo intensifies talks over weapons modernization plan

Since his appointment, Prabowo has considered strengthening Indonesia’s external defense capabilities one of his objectives.

The resolution is expected to be unveiled at the end of the plenary.

The BrahMos system features medium-range missiles that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land-based platforms.

The move would aim to boost Japan’s deterrence by providing a powerful counterattack capability to discourage a possible attacks.

Foreign minister Prak Sokhonn said that restoring Asean would require sorting out Myanmar’s issues with representation at its meetings.

He also highlighted how Vietnam proposed many initiatives and made substantive contributions to the UNSC’s work during its tenure.

Wang emphasized that it is important for Asian countries to remain clear-eyed, stand firm in their positions, and make the right choice.

Vice-minister of commerce Ren Hongbin said China is ready to fulfill a total of 701 binding obligations under the agreement.

Both sides also plan to update their free trade agreement, which may see greater market access to China for Singapore companies.

China regularly describes the island as the most sensitive issue in its ties with the United States.
