China reopens visa-free travel to South Korean citizens

The National Immigration Administration said the resumption was in response to South Korea resuming the issuance of short-term visas for Chinese citizens.

BEIJING – China’s immigration authorities will resume port visa issuance and 72/144 hour visa-free transit policy for Republic of Korea citizens on Saturday, said the National Immigration Administration on Wednesday.

NIA said in a statement that, as ROK has resumed the issuance of short-term visas for Chinese citizens, Chinese immigration authorities will resume the issuance of port visas and the 72/144-hour transit visa-free policy for ROK citizens on Saturday.

NIA suspended the issuance of port visas to ROK citizens and excluded them from the 72/144 hour visa-free transit policy as a response to its discriminatory restrictions imposed on Chinese travelers on Jan 12.
