PRAYAGRAJ – The Magh Mela in the Sangam city of Prayagraj is not just a religious event, but a living example of India’s eternal traditions, cultural diversity, and administrative efficiency.
This is evident in the Kala Sangam program at the Magh Mela grounds, which is being organised by the Uttar Pradesh Department of Culture.
At the Magh Mela, which has begun on the banks of the Sangam in Prayagraj, there is also a confluence of Indian culture and arts.
Cultural programmes began on Sunday at the Parade Ground in the Mela area. The first programme of the day was a performance of devotional folk songs by Uday Chandra Pardeshi and his team. The audience was captivated by the devotional songs of folk singer Malini Awasthi. The conch shell performance by Ram Janam’s team from Varanasi also thrilled the people.
Sangeeta Mishra performed folk singing, while the audience also enjoyed the classical singing by Varun Mishra from Lucknow. A blend of folk and classical dances was also witnessed on the first day. A wonderful combination of Kirti Srivastava’s folk dance, Dedhaiya, and Neeta Joshi’s Kathak dance was presented. The programme was conducted by Abha Madhur.
A total of 6 performances were held on the first day of Kala Sangam.
Magh Mela official Rishi Raj says that these performances will take place in the fairgrounds from January 4th to 30th. More than 120 folk and classical artists will be performing at this event. This 20-day event is being organised by the Uttar Pradesh Department of Culture.
