Czech President meets Dalai Lama in India, voices support for Tibetan autonomy

JAMMU – Czech President, Petr Pavel, on Sunday called on Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama in Leh (Ladakh), where he is currently camping.

The Dalai Lama welcomed President Pavel at his residence, Shewatsel Phodrang, in Leh.

Sources said that during the meeting, President Pavel expressed support for the Middle Way Approach and the Dalai Lama’s call for genuine autonomy for Tibet.

Further details of the meeting are awaited.

The Dalai Lama had returned to Leh yesterday from Zanskar, where he had delivered teachings and sermons for about a week.
