Death toll from measles, symptoms in Bangladesh rises to 424 with 9 deaths in 24 hours

DHAKA – Nine more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in 24 hours (till 8:00 am today), taking the total number of confirmed and suspected measles deaths to 424.

Of the nine, three are confirmed measles deaths, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the three deaths, the number of confirmed deaths rose to 68. The deaths were reported from the Dhaka division, according to the DGHS.

With six more suspected measles deaths reported during the same period, the total number of suspected deaths is now 356.

Of the latest deaths, two were reported from Sylhet division, while one each was reported from Dhaka, Chattogram, Mymensingh, and Khulna divisions.

During the same period, 87 new confirmed cases were reported, bringing the total to 7,024.

Besides, the DGHS recorded 1,105 new suspected cases in 24 hours, bringing the total to 51, 567.
