Festival of Holi celebrated with much fun and fare in Uttar Pradesh

However, at least one person was killed and one other was injured in the crime in Hardoi and Mainpuri.

NEW DELHI – Holi was celebrated in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday with full traditional fervor and gaiety amid reports of minor incidents of crime in different parts of the state.
At least one person was killed and one other was injured in the crime in Hardoi and Mainpuri.. In Hardoi, a teenager was killed by some unknown person in Tarhiwa police station area on Wednesday morning.
The criminals also took out both the eyes of the deceased. In Mainpuri, a youth received bullet injuries when some people attacked him during a clash in Agaundha village on Holi morning.
Children and elders sprayed colour and gulal on each other and later offered sweets and specially prepared gujiyas and papar. With wishing ‘Happy Holi’ people embraced each other to convey their best wishes.
The festival is being celebrated in a peaceful manner and there is no untoward incident from anywhere, said Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar here.
UP Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have wished the people of the state on the festival.
Chief Minister Yogi is in Gorakhpur and worshipped at the Gorakhnath temple this morning and exchanged greetings with the people. SP President Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati have also wished the people of the state on the festival.
In Lucknow a special Holi procession was brought out in the old Chowk area where politicians and others joined to celebrate the festival. The celebration of the festival started last night with Holika dahan and people started playing holi.
