French President Macron visits heritage places in Jaipur

Macron viewed Rajasthani painting at Amber Fort, praised the art by picking selected works in his hands, and also interacted with artists.

NEW DELHIFrench President Emmanuel Macron was on Thursday extended a rousing welcome by Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on his two-day visit to the state.

Later in the evening, the French President met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Jantar Mantar in Jaipur. Modi welcomed the French President and the delegation accompanying him. Both the leaders are slated to leave in a chariot for a road show.

On the way to Amber Fort, the French President’s convoy was greeted by students holding tricolour at the Ram Niwas Bagh and folk dancers performing ‘kal beliya dance’.

Macron viewed Rajasthani painting at Amber Fort, praised the art by picking selected works in his hands, and also interacted with artists. Along with Macron, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumar were present at the fort.

The top French dignitary also enjoyed the traditional ‘kutchi-Ghodi’ folk dance of Rajasthan.

The French President later embarked on a road show from Tripolia Gate to Sanganeri gate.

A gala round table dinner was hosted in his honour at the Taj Hotel (Ram Bagh Palace) where the top dignitaries were invited, an official statement said.
