MANILA – South Korean actor Hyun Bin cited the warm hospitality of Filipinos and the county’s famous dish adobo as highlights of his first visit to the Philippines this week.

Hyun Bin met with the members of the press on Friday, Aug. 8, at a hotel in Parañaque City, where he shared that he was “amazed” by the way he was welcomed by the Filipinos.

“The Philippines has always been on my list, and I did not have much time yet to go around and kind of experience the Philippines, but the way they have welcomed me here is really heartwarming. And it’s more amazing than I expected,” he said.

The Korean star noted that he was surprised by “the warm hospitality” and “the bright energy” he witnessed in the country.

Within his 24 hours in Manila, Hyun Bin shared that he was able to try the Filipino dish adobo, which he enjoyed.

“I also had a meal. It was very delicious and amazing. I got a suggestion, a recommendation for Filipino food, which was adobo. It was very delicious and enjoyable,” he said.

When asked what message he had for his Filipino fans, the Korean actor promised to return the love by “being a better actor and doing more projects.”

“The unconditional, unchanging love and support that I receive from Filipino fans, I’m really honored and grateful to have that kind of support. With that love, I’m going to return it to you, to the Filipino fans, with more projects and to be a better actor as well,” he expressed.

After the press conference, Hyun Bin was spotted in the hotel lobby interacting with fans and onlookers, some of whom he managed to shake hands with, as captured in a video posted by a fan page.

Later that night, the Korean superstar met with some more lucky fans who won the raffle initiated by Joy Wassmer, director of public relations and communications of Solaire Resort.

The fan meeting was hosted by singer Martin Nievera. Actress and CEO Charo Santos-Concio was among the lucky fans who attended the fan meeting and had a special moment with Hyun Bin as they posed for a photo.

Hyun Bin rose to fame for his role in the Korean drama “Crash Landing on You,” where he starred alongside his now-wife Son Ye Jin.

The actor also starred in “My Lovely Sam Soon,” “Secret Garden” and “Memories of the Alhambra,” among others.
