MANILA – Being unromantic doesn’t necessarily take away from you being a good partner. But that also doesn’t mean your sweetheart gets to be happy about it. For starters, have you even asked your significant other to be your Valentine?

Either way, we get it, life can be busy. So, if you’re unsure of what to do on the mid-month holiday these last-minute Valentine’s Day date ideas will blow your partner away.

Make something together—and no, not a kid

Testing how you cooperate with your partner can indicate how well you pair together. Just as a game of “It Takes Two” or “Bread & Fred” can test your relationship, these activities make for a pleasant experience both of you will enjoy anyway.

Studio Artfix, in collaboration with Wabi Sabi Studio, will be holding “Clay Date: A Post-Valentine’s Art Experience,” a workshop where participants will be guided in making a clay portrait. The workshop will be on Feb. 15 from 3 to 6 p.m., and costs ₱1,800 per participant and ₱ 3,240 per couple/duo.

Grabbing a sweet treat together is the perfect way to end the date on a high note. And what better way to do that than making the dessert yourselves? At I Did It Myself DIY Bakery, you can make the cake of your dreams—from a Hokkaido cheesecake or chocolate mousse to their specialized Valentine’s cakes. I Did It Myself DIY Bakery has locations in SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, and Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

Oh Craft!, located at Balay Qubo, Lamuan, Marikina City, is the first rug tufting workshop studio in the country. For Valentine’s, you and your partner can work together to make your own customized rugs—from your favorite Pokemon or Disney character to any design you may come up with. If you’re not necessarily into rugs, there are also workshops for making your own neon lights or a giant friendship bracelet.

For a little zen, join Moss Escape at their miniature landscape terrarium workshops. Shoot them a message to reserve your spot and get the chance to sit in peace with the love of your life as you make the perfect desk companions.

A little thrift or splurge never hurt anybody

Museum and gallery dates for days

If you’re the type of couple to enjoy quiet moments in the presence of good art and culture then Manila isn’t running short on exhibits happening this Valentine’s.

  1. Ciane Xavier’s “Breaking to Mend”: An exploration of the fragility and resilience of relationships through porcelain.
