Myanmar, China discuss increasing items allowed to be exported duty-free to China

During a meeting between delegations from both countries, prospects for increasing trade and investment, including reopening border gates to increase trade between Myanmar and China, were discussed.

NAY PYI TAW – Myanmar and China have reportedly discussed increasing the number of export items allowed to be exported to China duty-free.

The discussion took place on January 5 when Union Minister for Commerce and Industry U Chit Swe received a delegation led by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar HE Ms. Ma Jia at the Union Minister’s Guest Room, Office No. 3, Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, they discussed the prospects for increasing trade and investment, including reopening border gates to increase trade between Myanmar and China, cooperating in the areas of machinery and technology needed to ensure that Myanmar’s exports to China meet quality standards, increasing the number of items allowed to be exported to China duty-free, and working together to benefit the people living along the border between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Deputy Director Generals and officials of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
