Renewed face-to-face interaction vital for Sino-US ties: US expert

Expectations are high that renewed face-to-face dialogue could help make a difference.

BEIJING – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s upcoming visit to China has increased expectations of improvement in China-US relations.

In a recent dialogue with founder of Center for China and Globalization (CCG) Wang Huiyao, Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, said that China and the US have common interests in crisis management, and the renewed face-to-face dialogue could help make a difference.

Pointing out that the US faces national security challenges, Haass said that ensuring domestic stability and unity will help the country play its role in global issues better.
